Intimate South Fork, CO wedding - South Fork Wedding Photographer

Ryne + David’s Intimate South Fork, Colorado Wedding

Oct 23

A couple weeks ago I had the privilege to travel down to southern Colorado for Ryne and David’s beautiful intimate wedding. When Ryne and David first contacted me about being their South Fork wedding photographer I knew I was in! They planned an intimate, heartfelt day in a place that was obviously very special to them and it was an absolute pleasure getting to be a part of it!

A Ceremony Next to the Stream

Ryne’s parents have owned a cabin in South Fork, Colorado for twelve years. She describes it as her happy place … and its easy to see why. The property sits in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountains. Its closer to New Mexico than it is to bustling Denver and is, as Ryne described it, “in the middle of nowhere” … which is a good thing. A stream runs along the back side of the property and the cabin itself is filled with stuff that all has a story. Its a special place for her and her family – and I can see why.

I met up with them just as they were finishing getting ready. With the help of her mom and her girls, Ryne did her own makeup and slipped into a BEAUTIFUL Grace Loves Lace dress (I’m not the kind of person to get super excited about dresses but I’m obsessed with Grace Loves Lace!). We did their first look on the porch of the cabin before heading down to the stream and joined their 40-ish guests for the ceremony!

Ryne and David said their vows next to the creek, under an arch that her dad built. Every once in a while a gust of wind would come through and yellow leaves would come floating down from the trees around them – it was MAGIC!

Following the ceremony they pulled champagne out of the creek where it had been chilling and celebrated with a toast! And then it was off to the reception!

Reception at the Rio Grande Club

Ryne and David’s reception took place at the Rio Grande Club, just a few miles from the cabin. Following cocktail hour, a delicious dinner, and toasts, it was time to dance! I may or may not have cried tears right along with everyone there as these guys danced with each other and their sweet families.

I feel like the story of with wedding wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the weather! While the wedding day was beautiful and warm (for fall in the mountains) a storm was rolling in. That night the temperatures all over Colorado plummeted to below 20 and the first winter storm nailed the mountains. To say these guys got SO lucky with the weather! To say that Mother Nature was smiling down on this day would be a HUGE understatement!!

I had an amazing time with these guys and loved how their wedding day was so perfectly suited to them and who they are as people. It was heaps of nature with a touch of elegance and it couldn’t have been better!
