Sommer + Ben’s Telluride Elopement

A stunning telluride adventure elopement and celebration with guests

We were in Costa Rica when Sommer and Ben’s inquiry came in. I don’t typically do consults when I’m on vacation but I KNEW I had to talk to them immediately. We had a TON in common – Sommer is a lawyer (which I went to school for in a former life) and Ben worked for the same company as my husband! They were also super outdoorsy (Sommer hiked the PCT after law school which is so badass!), total dog lovers, AND lived just ten minutes away from me. When I read that they had lost their home in the Marshall Fire that had burnt down over a thousand houses in our town just a few months before, I KNEW I had to talk with them.

So from a little plastic table at a tiny hotel bar on a rainy evening in Costa Rica I pulled up Zoom and we talked all things elopements and by the end of the call I just knew that this was a perfect match!

They chose to elope in the mountains near Telluride, Colorado. I met up with them way before sunrise at their AirBnB where they were getting ready and we all piled into their Jeep and headed for the hills! We picked up my buddy and videographer extraordinaire Liz from Embr Films and then bumped our way up into a gorgeous backcountry basin they did their first look right as the sun came up over the San Juans.

With the first look over we left the Jeep behind and hiked up to an alpine lake where they read letters from their friends and said their vows (with the lake reflecting the mountain they had climbed the day before! How cool was that!). Following their ceremony we took some photos, popped champagne, and they enjoyed a little cold plunge right in that water they got married in front of. Then we worked our way back down the mountain and explored one of my FAVORITE waterfalls in all of Colorado!

Back at the house they were greeted by their families (and pup Tucker, of course!) who welcomed them back by showering them with golden aspen leaves. We spent the evening celebrating their love with craft beers and a delicious dinner cooked right at their AirBnB by Luca’s Ravioli. It was PERFECT.

Here are some photos from their day!
