Matthew + Sabrina's Black Canyon Inn Wedding

Matthew and Sabrina came out from Austin, Texas, to spend the week celebrating their wedding in the Colorado mountains. A few days before their wedding we met up at Rocky Mountain National Park for a sunrise adventure session (make sure you go check that out here! I’ll wait!). It was so great to get to spend a little bit of time getting to know them before their winter wedding at the Black Canyon Inn in Estes Park!

A week before their wedding a historic “bomb cyclone” had hit Colorado, bringing with it a blizzard that shut down roads all over Denver and the mountains. I LOVE shooting in the winter and the snow but it was a little ridiculous! I was crossing everything I had that the weather would clear for their Black Canyon Inn wedding and man, did Mother Nature deliver! Despite the crazy winter we had it was all blue skies and warm temperatures in the mountains that day!

I had never photographed at the Black Canyon Inn before and didn’t know exactly where I was going on the large property but I had no trouble finding Sabrina and her people in the cabin they were getting ready in – I could hear their laughter as soon as I got out of the car! As per usual, the scene was a little more mellow with the guys but its safe to say that everyone was having a great time.

After their ceremony at the pavillion we headed up to the Twin Owls Steakhouse for their reception … and got interrupted by a herd of elk that were grazing in the grass! Obviously we had to take some photos with them (while keeping a safe distance from those antlers!) before heading up to the party.

After cocktail hour and a dinner, Matthew and Sabrina spent the rest of the evening boogieing with their friends and family – this was a group that was definitely ready to party and I had a blast with them on the dance floor!
