Katlyn + Trace’s spontaneous mountain elopement

A totally last minute (and totally epic) elopement in the Colorado mountains

As an elopement photographer, one question I get asked all the time is “how much time do we need to plan our elopement?” or “what is the least amount of time you’ve ever planned an elopement in?”. Well, friends. We have a new high score.

Katlyn and Trace contacted me … from the airport. They had spontaneously decided to fly to Colorado to get married THE VERY NEXT DAY and had no idea how to make it happen. I was in the middle of a really busy week of shoots but I happened to have that next day free and just knew I needed to meet the couple crazy enough to do something so spontaneous.

When their plane landed in Colorado they had their wedding rings and a photographer/planner (It’s me! Hi!) and that was it. By the next morning when they eloped at a mountain lake at sunrise they had acquired wedding clothes (seriously she found the perfect dress in like an hour! HOW?!) and a suit and I helped them find a makeup artist, officiant, and location and we were off to the races!

Looking at the photos from their spontaneous elopement I would NEVER think that this all came together in under 24 hours. Hustling to put this one together may have taken a few years off my life but it was SO worth it because it was SO much fun!

Here are some photos from their elopement!

This was such a wild day and I’m so happy I go to be a part of it! Congrats to Katlyn and Trace and thanks for having me along for the ride!
