Gift ideas for couples who are eloping
I don’t think it’s any secret that couples who elope tend to march to the beat of their own drum. Chances are pretty good that they don’t have a traditional gift registry for their very non-traditional wedding.
As an elopement photographer and planner, I’ve helped hundreds of these couples elope. I know what makes them tick and what kind of gifts they appreciate.
I created this guide to help you come up with elopement gift ideas for the people in your life who have chosen to go a less-than-traditional-route. Let’s go!
Personalized travel map
Because so many couples who elope tend to travel for their big day (and tend to travel a lot in general! Eloping tends to attract the wanderlusty among us), a personalized travel map is a great choice. This is ideal for a destination elopement and can be customized with the couples’ names and date.
Custom luggage tags
These tags are an awesome idea for couples who are flying to their elopement or who are flying to their honeymoon after their elopement or intimate wedding. This is a really easy, really thoughtful gift for couples who loves to travel!
A Pendleton blanket
I will admit that I am somewhat of a blanket afficionado and there is NO better blanket than Pendleton. These are beautiful, heirloom quality blankets that your eloping couple can use in their photos (these blankets look AMAZING in photos) and also keep for the rest of their lives to remind them of their day (and the people who gave them the blanket!). Even more fun? Pendelton makes blankets inspired by several National Parks (so if they are eloping in a park, you can order the one that matches!)
Customized wall art
This is perfect for couples (like mine!) who had an adventure elopement in the mountains. These can be customized with the couple’s names and date and are a really great way to help them celebrate the day! I like these because they have a modern, minimalist aesthetic and would look awesome hanging in the home!
Framed photos
In my experience, a lot of couples are terrible about remembering to get their photos framed. They get home from their big adventure and get back to normal life and these things fall by the wayside. Make life a little easier on them by ordering them some framed prints. Framebridge is who I have long ordered my own personal framed prints from. I love how they make it SO EASY to get your photos framed (lets be honest – going to a frame store is no fun!). They have tons of styles and sizes to choose from and can match any aesthetic!
Personalized compass
This is one that I’ve seen both as a gift from one member of the couple to the other as well as from family to the couple. These are super customizable and make really neat gifts! They also come with a really cute case. If you are looking for a gift for the wanderlusty person in your life, this is perfect!
Contribute to a honeyfund
Honeyfund is a company that lets loved ones contribute to their couples’ awesome honeymoon (which often happens at the same time as their elopement!) with zero fees. Honeyfund is for couples who value experiences over things – which tends to be a LOT of couples who choose to elope! Help make their experience extra awesome by removing some of the financial burden or letting them splurge on something big!
Instant camera to take on their trip
Sure, iphone photos are great and all but there is something really fun about being able to take a picture and have it in your hands right away, in all of it’s grainy film-inspired glory. Even as a pro photographer I am a HUGE fan of these little cameras and our family usually takes one on our own trips! They get to make their own souvenirs! (Also, as an elopement photographer I can tell you that pictures of them taking pictures of each other tend to be really cute!)
custom print of the place they eloped
These are SO cute and can even include dogs (check out the link to see some examples!). There is a lot of custom art of couples on Etsy and these just may be my favorite! And the fact that they can include pets is honestly the icing on the cake! This little photo doesn’t do these justice – go check them out on Etsy!
