Madi + Taylor’s Colorado Hiking Elopement

When Madi and Taylor first reached out about maybe working together for their Colorado hiking elopement they told me they knew that a big traditional wedding wasn’t for them and that they wanted a day that was relaxed, adventurous and super fun. This day was all of that and SO much more!!

They knew they’d be spending the week at a house outside Snowmass and that they wanted to do their ceremony on the porch there. They also said that beyond that they were totally open to suggestions on where to go and what to do – they just knew that they wanted beautiful views, awesome times, and a real adventure. I had a couple locations in that area that I knew would fit the bill PERFECTLY!

While we were planning their elopement Madi asked me if I thought a dress with a long train would work for this type of hiking elopement – and then she sent me a picture of this BEAUTIFUL dress by Essence of Australia. “Um, YES. We can DEFINITELY make that work!!”.  That long train was magical and so much freaking fun to play with at their elopement!

After her hair and makeup were done they did their first look on the lawn outside the house and then moved up to the deck of the house for their ceremony – which was almost derailed when I closed the door and it LOCKED automatically – lock us all out of the house! They had signed up for an adventure … but this wasn’t the adventure any of us had in mind! Ha!! We all had a couple moments of panic before realizing that the garage door was open and Taylor was able to go around and let us all back in. Ha! With that little snafu out of the way it was time for the ceremony!

They said their vows on the deck of the house surrounded by aspens. I absolutely LOVED how personal everything was – from the readings they did for each other to Madi’s grandfather’s bible, it was 100% them and 100% perfect. I may or may not have shed a tear (or ten) while they did their thing and made it official.

After the ceremony we bustled her dress, put on hiking boots, and set off for an adventure!!

We spent the next several hours exploring the forests, caves, and mountains around Aspen – ending the day with a hike up to 12,000+ feet where Madi and Taylor did their first dance and we all drank wine as the sun set on a perfect day in the mountains!

I am so grateful that Madi and Taylor chose me to help them with their Colorado hiking elopement and am SO stoked to share some photos from their day!

Enjoy!
