Christina + Clay // Colorado Elopement

Christina and Clay wanted to elope but couldn’t stand the thought of not having their families there for their big day … so they brought them along! Their intimate Colorado wedding perfectly combined the wedding traditions they wanted to keep with the beautiful adventure-inspired elopement that they were dreaming of!

These guys came all the way from Kentucky for their Colorado elopement and I had so much fun getting to know them and helping them plan their day. I know how hard it can be to plan a wedding from far away and nothing makes me happier than showing folks from out of town around my adopted home state!

We began their day in their rooms at the lodge in which they were staying in Breckenridge. I hung out with them while they were getting ready and snapped photos along the way. When they were both ready we headed down to the river to do their first look which was so freaking sweet I could hardly stand it!

Once their first look was over it was off to one of my favorite little secret spots in the mountains for their ceremony. One of the wedding traditions that they really wanted to keep for their very non-traditional wedding was having Christina’s dad walk her down the aisle. As they made their way down the rocky road and up to the side of the lake where Clay was standing it was hard not to think about how cool it was how they really made their wedding their own!

After readings by each of their moms and the sweetest vows they fired up a bluetooth speaker and did their first dance right along the lake shore!

Following the ceremony we did family photos and then headed over to their dinner reception where they had toasts, delicious food, and cut their cake (another wedding tradition that they wanted to keep!). And then we snuck out for my favorite part of the day!

I always tell my couples that if at all possible they should plan some time at sunset for a round of portraits when the light is killer. Its also a really good chance to sneak away from the craziness of the day and have a moment to soak it ALL in. For Christina and Clay’s sunset portraits we headed back to their ceremony site and went exploring!

I had an absolute blast with these guys at their intimate Colorado wedding and I’m so impressed with how they focused on the things that mattered most to them for their big day.  Helping couples figure out how to have a day that is true to them and who they are is one of my absolute favorite parts of this job! Christina and Clay’s elopement-inspired wedding was a day that felt like it truly represented who they were and what was important to them and it was such an honor being a part of it!

Here are some shots from their day. Enjoy!
