Elopement-inspired intimate weddings in wild places for couples who march to the beat of their own drum (But want to do it with some guests!)

I help couples bring a laid-back elopement vibe to their small wedding

Want to elope but can’t imagine not doing it with your people? I’ve got you!

When I talk to new clients on the phone, one of the things that most stresses them out and causes a ton of confusion is whether they want to elope or have a larger wedding. Should they invite their families? Can they still have a laid-back, stress-free day if they do? How does this all work?!

As someone who wanted to elope but also desperately wanted my family there for my wedding, I totally get it. Which is why one of my favorite things to do is help couples have small weddings with the people they love most – while still bringing those elopement-style vibes.

Whether you’re wanting to get married in nature with a handful of your nearest and dearest or want to have a more traditional small wedding but also have an elopement-style adventure, I’m here to help make it happen!

Elopement or Wedding?

WHat if I told you you don’t have to choose?

If, like many of my couples, you find yourself going back and forth between eloping or having a small wedding, I’ve got good news for you. You can do both.

One of my favorite things to do is help couples figure out how to bring elopement-inspired vibes to a celebration with their family and friends.

There are SO MANY WAYS to bring your laid-back, non-traditional dream wedding to life. I’m here to help you dream bigger for your day, figure out how to put the pieces together, help you navigate the intricacies of having a small wedding in nature, and make sure your day is as stress-free as possible – because chances are you aren’t having a non-traditional wedding because you want MORE stress, right?!

What does this look like?

Past couples have:

  • HIKED TO AN ALPINE LAKE TO SAY PRIVATE VOWS AT SUNRISE AND THEN HAD A CEREMONY WITH THEIR FAMILY IN A NATIONAL PARK
  • RENTED A GUEST RANCH FOR A WEEKEND WITH THEIR FAMILY, WENT HORSEBACK RIDING AND CANOEING, AND GOT MARRIED ON THE PROPERTY
  • BACKPACKED WITH FRIENDS TO A LAKE IN THE MOUNTAINS, CAMPED OVERNIGHT, AND GOTTEN MARRIED AT SUNRISE
  • HAD A SMALL CEREMONY WITH FAMILY ON A LAKESHORE AND THEN GONE FOR AN ELOPEMENT-STYLE PHOTO ADVENTURE
  • JEEPED INTO THE BACKCOUNTRY, JUST THE TWO OF THEM, FOR THEIR CEREMONY, AND THEN CELEBRATED WITH A PRIVATE CHEF DINNER AT THEIR AIRBNB WITH THEIR FAMILY

    …. AND SO MANY MORE!

“Working with Jen was such a wonderful experience! From our very first call she was full of ideas and was incredibly helpful. I had no idea what the entire picture of our wedding would look like in the beginning, but Jen took what was important to us and crafted the most beautiful experience I could ever imagine!”

microwedding FAQ

Generally, no. I don’t have a hard rule on what constitutes a microwedding and you are welcome to have as many guests as you want! Having said that, the higher the guest count, the more challenging it is to find venues, etc.

Generally speaking, I photograph elopements and microweddings with 0-25-ish guests

This will totally depend on the number of people you have and what the permit requirements are for the place you want to get married. With groups of over 10-ish people I tend to recommend some kind of venue (which is very often a beautiful airbnb in a remote place) to keep impacts on the natural environment low and make logistics easier. Remember we can always venture off for photos!

OBVIOUSLY YES! The more the merrier as far as I’m concerned!

I’m local to Colorado and this is the area I know best (especially Boulder, Estes Park, Breckenridge, Telluride and the San Juans, Crested Butte, and Great Sand Dunes National Park) but I plan and photograph elopements and small weddings all over the Western U.S. Some spots especially near and dear to my heart include Washington State (especially Olympic National Park and the North Cascades), Wyoming, and Moab, UT. I’m always up for going wherever your love takes you!

YES! My process and pricing is exactly the same for elopements and small weddings and it’s very common for my couples’ to change their guest counts during the planning process. I’m always here to help support you and walk you through your options! Never hesitate to reach out!
