When Ashley and Lynn first contacted me about photographing their Colorado mountain elopement and mentioned their love of dogs, mountains, and beer I knew we’d get along just fine! These two came out to Colorado from the wilds of Chicago to do some hiking, campfire sitting, beer drinking, and oh yeah, say their vows!
They knew they wanted a simple self-solemnizing ceremony in Colorado but they didn’t know exactly where. After floating a bunch of options to them they decided on one of my favorite (secret-ish!) locations in the mountains of Summit County and the planning began!
We caravaned up to the spot, hopped out of the car, and spent some time hanging out (with a couple beers in hand, obviously!) and exploring before heading up to a giant rock overlooking the valley where they did their ceremony. I was simultaneously laughing and crying right along with them as they said their vows!
After the “hard” part was over we did some more exploring, almost tripped over a mountain goat, played in the snow, and spent some time hanging out by the lake. It was one of those days when I have to pinch myself to be sure that I’m not dreaming and yes this really IS my job!
I work with a lot of happy, madly in love couples but I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen two people quite so giddy about marrying one another. They just exuded joy all evening long – and I think it shows in the pictures. If you look at these pictures and DON’T find yourself smiling and laughing right along with them you should maybe check yourself for a pulse. 😉
Here are some shots from Ashley and Lynn’s laid-back Colorado elopement. Enjoy!
Congrats Ashley and Lynn! It was an honor being a part of your day!
