Mary + Joe’s Dreamy North Cascades National Park Elopement

Mary and Joe (yes, their names really are Mary and Joseph!) had originally planned a small wedding in Colorado for the summer of 2020. Like SO many other couples, those plans were derailed by Covid … and now that they got married the way they did, I can’t IMAGINE them doing it any other way! What began as a small Colorado wedding turned into a North Cascades National Park elopement. Here’s how it all went down!

Mary and Joe live in Nebraska and had originally planned on rescheduling their wedding to the summer of 2021 and celebrating (finally!) getting married with a long road trip through the Pacific Northwest. When it became clear that Covid was STILL going to be a thing in 2021 (anyone else shocked that we’re still here? ME TOO.), they had the idea to elope on their honeymoon instead!

We tossed around a few different spots in the Pacific Northwest and finally landed on North Cascades and man – it was incredible.

They rented the most beautiful cabin outside Glacier, Washington. When I walked in Mary screamed, ran over, and gave me the BIGGEST hug – which is when I knew this was about to be a very good day!

They finished getting ready and then we headed out to the backyard of the cabin for their first look. One of my FAVORITE things about this part of the country is the variety in scenery. Their backyard was full of moss and ferns (which was a huge difference from the high alpine scenery we were headed to!). They had the sweetest first look and then we all piled in the car and the real adventure began!

We headed up the mountain and scoped out the most beautiful and private spot for their ceremony and then met up with Rev. James Biedle who would be officiating. James was the kindest guy and did a killer job with their ceremony. He had such a gentle, calming presence which is exactly what we all needed since we were SO hyped. Getting to work with him was a real treat!

After they said their vows, signed the papers, and made it official we went adventuring! We spent the rest of the evening hiking around, drinking champagne, and soaking in those views. And man, THOSE VIEWS!! As someone who spends a LOT of time in the mountains I have to say that for a lot of reasons this is one of my favorite spots for an elopement – it’s JAW DROPPINGLY beautiful! Honestly this is one of the most gorgeous spots I have been.

At one point while we were looking around Mary looked over and said “I’m SO happy right now that I feel like I could explode. This is better than I ever dreamed it would be.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Here are some photos from Mart and Joe’s North Cascades National Park elopement. Enjoy!
