Jeff + Wendy’s Rocky Mountain National Park Elopement

Jeff and Wendy are a super fun, free-spirited couple who love dogs and skateboarding. They flew out to Colorado from their home in Houston, Texas, for their Rocky Mountain National Park elopement. I had an absolute blast being a part of their day!

We began their day at the Estes Park Resort where they were getting ready. I helped Wendy pin up her dress and fix her hair and then headed down to the bar to see what Jeff was up to. He invited me to join him for a drink. We chatted about life, dogs, and why he was so stoked to be marrying Wendy.

Once everyone was ready we hopped in the car and headed to the Park. RMNP is crawling with elk and we saw several as we wound our way through the park towards Bear Lake, where they said their vows.

Bear Lake Rocky Mountain National Park Elopement

It was a beautiful fall day and Bear Lake was a bit of a zoo. RMNP restricts elopements ONLY to their designated wedding sites and there were a lot of people milling around. We made the best of it! To be honest, I’m not sure that Jeff and Wendy even realized that they had a crowd watching them get married. They were COMPLETELY in the moment and it was incredibly cool to see.

Rocky Mountain National Park Hiking Elopement

After they made it official we slapped on Yak Trax and hiked up to Dream Lake to pop champagne and watch the sun set behind the mountains. The Colorado mountains had gotten their first big snowfall the weekend before and it was a winter wonderland! The good news though? It wasn’t actually that cold and the wind was blissfully calm.

Up at the lake we took some photos, drank some champagne, and spent our evening hanging out. It was the PERFECT end to an absolutely incredible evening.

After the sun finally set behind the mountains we packed up our stuff and hiked out under the moonlight. It was a super clear night and the way the moon lit up Long’s Peak is something I don’t think any of us will forget for a long time!

This was one of my last elopements of the season and an absolutely perfect way to wrap things up. I had a blast getting to know these guys and celebrating with them on their big day!
